Grow in knowledge and love for reading and learning...
Visit the HHCA Media Center! The Media Center offers valuable resources for both students and teachers. HHCA students experience that books are fun to read and provide valuable research tools. We offer two research engines (The South Carolina State Library and School Technology Programs), and computer classes are a regular part of our curriculum beginning in kindergarten.
Accelerated Reader Program
Reading is a skill. The more you practice, the better reader you become…and the more you will enjoy it! We have seen significant improvement in our student reading scores on standardized testing since we began the Accelerated Reader Program. Students are encouraged to earn points by reading and testing on books from the list found on the Quizlist interactive link below. English teachers will be setting individual goars for each student based on their reading abilities.

The South Carolina Association of School Librarians (SCASL) began their Book Award program back in 1976 with a total of sixteen schools participating. Today there are over 300 schools involved and over 30,000 students voting for their favorite books. The South Carolina Book Award program invites students in kindergarten through twelfth grade to vote for their favorite book in categories ranging from picture books to the young adult category. Each year a committee selects 20 books in each category for the students to read throughout the year and then collects the votes, awarding the author a medal from the state of South Carolina.
