Frequently Asked Questions

Q:
What does it mean to be a Christian School?
A:

As a Christian school, we combine a strong academic program with a commitment to biblical values emphasizing the need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our curriculum includes daily Bible classes, weekly Chapels, and we integrate Christianity into daily teaching by viewing all subject matter through the lens of Christianity. We are independent of any church or denominational affiliation.
The teachers at HHCA are Christians and display a passion for sharing their faith and nurturing their students.

Q:
Will my child be prepared to attend a selective college or university?
A:

As a college preparatory school, HHCA prepares each student to be successful at whatever college or university they may attend. With a rigorous curriculum including honors and advanced placement courses in every upper school core subject area, HHCA has high standards that are well respected around the state of South Carolina and the country. One hundred percent of our graduates are accepted to four-year colleges and universities.

Q:
How do I apply to HHCA?
A:

The application process takes approximately two weeks to complete. You will need to secure the necessary paperwork to be completed by the parents and middle and upper school students. Entrance testing, and parent and student interviews are conducted once all necessary paperwork has been submitted.

Q:
Does HHCA offer tuition assistance or scholarships?
A:

HHCA does offer tuition assistance based on the recommendation of the Family FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment, which is a company that serves Christian schools in assessing the financial needs of their families. Families who qualify for tuition assistance can receive a discount on tuition, within the limits of our budget. We do not offer scholarships.

Q:
Are siblings automatically admitted?
A:

We certainly welcome applications from siblings, although each admission application is evaluated on its own merits. Occasionally HHCA is not the best fit for a sibling.

Q:
Is transportation available?
A:

Morning and afternoon paid bus service is offered to off-island families with our Bluffton bus service. The bus begins each morning at 6:50 a.m. on Buckwalter Parkway and stops for student pick up and drop off at two locations along Route 278 and the Bluffton Parkway. The number of students who can ride the bus is limited by the size of the bus. We can currently seat 24-26 students.

Q:
Where do the students come from?
A:

Among the 451 students enrolled at HHCA, 65% come from Hilton Head Island, and 35% come from Bluffton and surrounding communities.

A:

HHCA students do wear school uniforms. Uniforms are purchased from Lands' End. Our Parent Teacher Fellowship also coordintes a Uniform Exchange where families can buy and sell uniforms from each other.
