Where Are They Now?

Lizzie Howell '03
I started college at USC Aiken and began volunteering with the Christian ministry, Young Life, which focuses on building relationships with high school students bringing them the word of God. After my sophomore year I transferred to USC in Columbia Darla Moore School of Business. I graduated in May of 2007 with a Bachelors Degree in both Marketing and Entrepreneurship and a minor in Spanish. Erin McHugh (class of '03) and I rented an apartment in Columbia.  I am with Stevens & Wilkinson of South Carolina, an architectural, engineering and interior design firm. God is wonderful, I have been very blessed with my job, and I love what I am doing.

Bonnie (Willis) McFerren '98
After graduating in 1998 I attended Clearwater Christian College. After college I taught middle school in Florida for a year, and then moved to Hawaii where I taught high school for a year. I now reside in Greenville, South Carolina with my husband, Barry.  I teach 7th grade literature in a public school.  We've been married for 2 years, have a dog, and love to travel.  We will soon be traveling to Ecuador, and finally having the honeymoon we never had!

Marsha (Wedgeworth) Hunter '01
Marsha and David Hunter were married on August 26, 2006.  She graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. David also graduated from UNC where he was on the TarHeel football team. The couple is now living in Charleston.

Lauren Cranston '05
I am a sophomore at North Carolina State University and I am majoring in International Studies - International Relations Concentration. I am also minoring in Spanish. Swimming is going very well.  I have had one best time already this season and my other swims have been right at my times.  I will be competing in the Terrapin Cup at the University of Maryland where I hope to have some more best times.  I swim distance freestyle and mid-distance backstroke which includes the 500 free, 1000 free, and 1650 free (mile) and also the 200 backstroke.

Trevor '99 and Jordan (Ussery) '00 Smith
Jordan and I were married in January 2005, and we are fast approaching the big 1 2/3rds year anniversary.   We lived in New York City for about six months, with me working and Jordan finishing her Masters Degree in Operations Research at Columbia University. We have moved to   the home of the Boston Red Sox, and we will reverse things; Jordan will be a consultant with Mercer Management Consulting and I’ll be a student at Harvard Business School.

In between these two work/study and study/work partnerships, we lived in Africa for ten months, the first eight months in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the next two months in Nairobi, Kenya.   We worked with two non-profits organizations in Johannesburg; Jordan’s group sponsored needy high school students and mine fostered entrepreneurs and their small companies.  In Kenya, we volunteered for a small, Christian organization called Starfish Africa that finds and sponsors high school students.

Rachael (Brown) Goshorn ‘00

I am working at Bank of America as a Personal Banker . We are also right in the middle of looking to buy a house and move in by mid June.

Brian and Beth (Turner) '99 Jones
We were married on July 9, 2005 and are thrilled to be in our first home in  Orange County, CA.  Brian began his fifth year of teaching and his third year in the 5th grade classroom. I graduated from Biola University, and have recently started a new job with a commercial real estate company called The Brookhollow Group.  I have decided to pursue a career in residential real estate.  We have been taking a Marriage Enrichment class through our church and we hope to be part of a mentor program that works with newly married couples.  Though we need a few more years under our belt, we feel the Lord is drawing us to this ministry.

Jennifer (Whelan) Senter ‘99
First of all, my name actually isn't Jennifer Whelan anymore.  I got married on December 17th of 2005 to a wonderful Christian man that I met at Wake Forest, and I am now Jennifer Senter.  My husband's name is Drew Senter, and he just graduated from law school at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.  We are thoroughly enjoying married life.

I'm about to begin my third year as a high school chemistry teacher!  I'm teaching regular and advanced chemistry at Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham, and I love it.  It's a great school with intelligent students and involved parents, and I'm growing so much as a teacher there.  After I graduated from Wake Forest with my BS in chemistry in 2003, I got my masters in secondary education, also from Wake Forest.  Then I moved down here to Birmingham, and I've been here ever since!  It's a wonderful city.

Elizabeth Clemmer ‘98
I am in my 4th year of teaching at SouthLake Christian Academy in Huntersville, NC. (Just north of Charlotte) I teach 6th graders Bible, Science, and Math. Opportunities for sharing Christ and discipleship are endless. There is nothing better than to see one of your students accept Jesus...which happened just two weeks ago in my room! There is truly no greater joy!!

My high school years were amazing... high school was a huge time of spiritual growth for me and I'm so thankful that my parents sacrificed so that I go be there!

Brian '98 and Michael '95 Salmon
I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2005 with a BFA in Graphic Design. From there I started my career as a freelance designer and also worked as the creative director for Reach Out! Columbia magazine. In May of 2006, I moved to San Diego to take a job as a graphic designer for a great church called East Lake Community Church. The design was fun and the atmosphere was great, but sitting behind a desk 9-5, just wasn't for me.

So, at the end of October, I knew it was time to leave the 9-5 and follow a dream and passion I have been working on for several years. I decided to go full time and public with my custom skateboard company, Soul Ryde Longboards. I teamed up with my brother Brian to make this dream become a reality. Currently, we are gearing up for the two largest trade shows of the year, and plan to exhibit our new 2007 line at these shows in January. We are praying that all will come together in time and that we will have a good response at these shows. Look for us in surf/skate shops throughout the nation by spring 2007. For more information, check us out at www.soulrydelongboards.com or email me at msalmon1@mac.com.
