Community Connection

Community Connection

Students at HHCA and their families are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone to serve the community as Jesus has called us to do through our witness and our service. Our diverse student body represents many communities and more than 30 local churches. Spiritual gifts, talents, and opportunities are as varied as our student body, so this page may be the very first page you visit to find ways to make connections outside our campus.

It is our hope you not only find ways to serve on campus through the PTF volunteer program, but you also find ways to meet needs in the community and make connections with others who share your God-given passion and talent.

Check often for community events, theater opportunities, local church invitations, and community service opportunities.

Community Event to Bring Clean Water to Belize

Two local families, the Harstas and the Stephens, are moving to Belize this July to found Water Missions Belize.  Dubbed the “Quench” team, they will operate under the auspices of Water Missions International, (WMI) a Christian-based, non-profit engineering organization whose mission is to provide sustainable access to safe water to developing countries and disaster areas.

A free, community-wide kick-off party for the Belize project and Quench Team will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 on the grounds of LowCountry Community Church in Bluffton from 6-8 p.m. A representative from Water Missions International, will be in attendance, and there will be a portable water purification unit up and running for people to see.  The event will feature live music by Howard Duff and his combo as well as “Fusion,” a jazz/rock band composed of students from Hilton Head Christian Academy. Barbeque dinner will be available, and the drink of choice will be water, served in complimentary, keepsake cups.  The public is invited, and admission is free. The event will be held rain or shine as it will take place under a large, outdoor tent as well as in the facility’s multi-purpose room.
