Doug Langhals, B.S., M.A., has served the HHCA community for twenty years, and as Head Of School since 2016. For the twelve years prior to being named our Head of School, he was a Bible Mentor, Campus Pastor, and played an integral part of the school’s administrative leadership team.

Evident throughout this tenure has been a steadfast commitment to our vision, which is “To Know Christ And Make Him Known.”

After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible Teaching from Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina, in 2001, Doug earned a Master of Arts degree in Theological Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Doug has worked diligently alongside HHCA’s Board of Directors and dedicated volunteers to execute bold plans and turn vision into reality. Notable accomplishments include leading the school through the process of building and moving to a brand new, state-of-the-art campus in Bluffton, South Carolina. Under his leadership, faculty and staff have trained with renowned international experts in the transition to a transformative educational model combining contemporary inquiry-based learning practices with Christian principles.

The South Carolina Independent School Association extended its highly-esteemed Dr. Charles S. Aimar Educational Leadership Award to Doug in November 2021.

One of his greatest joys, he says, is reconnecting with alumni where he can truly see the lasting impact their time at HHCA made in their lives. Doug and his wife, Neely, are blessed with a beautiful family of five children, all students at HHCA.

Doug was awarded the esteemed Dr. Charles S. Aimar Educational Leadership Award by the South Carolina Independent School Association in November 2021.

IN THE FEATURE:

Doug Langhals is the Head of School at Hilton Head Christian Academy, a private, Christian K-12 college preparatory school located in Bluffton. It’s where more than 600 students blend hands-on learning with a commitment to excellence in academics, athletics and the arts.

Without a coherent worldview, a student will never fully understand their identity, purpose and hope. Our goal is to send students out into the world to impact those around them for eternity.

- Doug Langhals, HHCA Head of School

An advocate of Christian education, Doug has been actively involved in HHCA for nearly 20 years. He feels the younger generation desperately needs a foundation of truth to build their lives upon.
