HHCA Sailing Team Competes in State Competition

HHCA's Sailing Club competed in the SCISA State  Championship at Windmill Harbor at the South Carolina Yacht Club on Friday, March 19, 2021.

The sailors competing for HHCA included Mary Elizabeth Thurlow (8th), Bradlee Anderson (9th), Gage Zatalokin (9th), and Blaine McClure (9th).

The Sailing Team practices and competes in the fall and in the spring. Sailors compete in a Club 420 sailboat, which is a 2-person dinghy common to high school and collegiate programs in North America.

HHCA's Sailing Team is looking to grow the team next season with more middle and upper school team members! No prior sailing experience is needed -- just a desire to learn and a commitment to invest in "tiller time". Practices are held at the South Carolina Yacht Club and coaching is provided by Mark Newman, a US Level 3 Sailing Coach.

More information will be coming soon about the 2021-2022 season.  In the meantime, contact Sail Team coordinator Lynn Thurlow at lthurlow@hhca.org.
