HHCA has a great lineup for CAMP 2021. From art and athletics to music and drama,

HHCA offers many opportunities for students to have fun and grow

during summer break - in a safe environment on our brand new camps in Bluffton.

 

All of our exciting summer programs are led by HHCA mentors who love helping students learn new skills and develop their God-given talents. 

 

HHCA Camps are open to all K-12 students. Students do not have to attend HHCA to participate.

Camp Description:
HHCA's third annual Summer Stock Junior Theater Camp 2021 will focus on building a quality show and bringing a high-quality performance to the stage when High School Musical Jr. debuts before a paying audience on June 4th and 5th at 5:00 PM in HHCA's new Performing Arts Center. 
 
By registering for this camp, students agree to participate regardless of the role they receive. We consider all cast members vital to the success of the production!
 
Auditions:
Everyone who registers and participates in the camp will be in the show. Auditions will be held for larger roles on Monday, May 10, 3:30-5:30 PM. Students must be registered for camp to participate in auditions. Audition requirements will be emailed prior to May 10.

Camp Description:
HHCA's All-Sports Camps are geared towards skill development and fundamentals, with a different "Sport of the Day" during each morning session. Afternoon sessions will be geared towards skill-building and sportsmanship through a variety of fun and active games for all ages.

Camp Description:
The sixth annual Hilton Head Jazz Clinic by the Hilton Head Jazz Foundation, includes a 3-hour daily jazz clinic with college jazz camp alumni and local professional musicians, a music trip to Savannah, and a finale performance on June 25. The clinic is a combination of masterclasses, small combos, with instruction in theory/improv geared towards beginning students, starting their journey into jazz and improvisation. The clinic includes an all-day music trip to Savannah on Wednesday, June 23. A final clinic performance will be held in the HHCA Performing Arts Center on Friday, June 25, at 5:00 PM. Only one year of playing experience is required for this clinic.

Camp Description:
This is a specialized guitar camp led by professional jazz guitarist Dr. Tim Fischer, to prepare students for the challenges of jazz guitar. The clinic includes a 3-hour daily jazz guitar clinic, a full-day music trip to Savannah (6/23) with lunch included, and a finale on June 25.  This new program is offered as a way for guitarists to grasp playing jazz in a non-competitive setting and improve upon reading, ensemble playing, and improvisation. The program is highly recommended for any guitarist who is also planning to attend the Hilton Head Jazz Camp. A discount is offered to those who enroll in both programs.

For out-of-town students, overnight lodging in a local established hotel is available for an additional $450 for any students over 14 years old. Overnight students are supervised 24/7 by our resident director/assistants and all breakfasts and lunches are included. Space is limited.
 
Camp Description:
The 2021 Hilton Head Jazz Camp, by The Junior Jazz Foundation, is the premiere summer camp for aspiring intermediate and advanced jazz musicians, ages 14-20. It is a week-long, full-day camp with 18 full-time professional faculty and guest artists. The camp, taking place July 12-17, has two major culminating performances including the camp recital and finale concert. With a combination of large big bands, small combos, theory, improv, elective courses, masterclasses and performances, this premier jazz camp is geared towards intermediate to advanced middle and high school students. With a unique vocal jazz and jazz strings option available to students in addition to a traditional jazz summer camp program, the HHJC has truly become an annual destination for aspiring musicians in the region and beyond. Tuition includes a daily chef-catered lunch as well as all daytime activities, faculty recital, special mid-week masterclass, and 2 complimentary tickets to the finale performance on July 17 at 2:00 PM. 
 
For out-of-town students, overnight lodging is available. Space is limited, so sign up early if you are coming from outside the Bluffton/HHI region.

This camp is designed as an opportunity to engage in a shared reading experience to deepen our understanding of a disadvantaged group of people and then to create together an initiative to help such a group. Bring your appetite for reading and discussing our selected book and then planning/executing a related group project together. Our greater purpose is to comprehend more deeply our personal identity in Christ and our collective identity as Christ-followers, and to explore how to be the hands and feet of Christ to impact others in significant ways.

Boys: Mon-Thurs |collared shirts and pants; Fri | Long-sleeve shirt with tie; Girls: blouse with skirt/slacks or dress; appropriate business lengths expected.
 
Camp Description:
Flight School is a course designed for rising juniors and seniors to learn and practice skills for successful launch in college, career, and life. Community business partners from various fields will speak to students about their path to career success, as well as the character traits and key skills they look for in job candidates. Students are then guided through sessions on first impressions, dressing for success, resume-development and branding, interviewing skills, and etiquette. The course culminates with mock interviews with our business partners and a business luncheon. 
 
The course provides rising juniors and seniors with valuable experience to prepare them for future success. "You Can't Stop the Beat" Dancing in Musical Theater Camp

Camp Description:
Students will spend the week with HHCA Theater Director Michelle McElroy Cox and choreographer Jamal Edwards, learning musical theater dance technique, choreography, and audition skills. Students will be split into two levels - beginner and intermediate - and will track with their group through a series of classes and workshops. Students will participate in a short performance for their family and friends at the end of the week. At the end of the week, students will participate in a short performance for family and friends.  
 
About the Instructors: 
 

JAMAL EDWARDS: Jamal is a graduate of The University of Alabama where he studied and received his B.A. in dance. He is currently a dance teacher and choreographer for Hilton Head Dance School and holds American Ballet Theatre Certification primary through level three.  He has performed in many of the dance school's productions such as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake and Terpsichore. Jamal has also choreographed for HHI High School, MSYT, and May River Theatre. Jamal was choreographer for HHCA’s productions of The Little Mermaid, White Christmas, All Shook Up, Emma JV and You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown.

 

MICHELLE MCELROY COX: Michelle has been teaching at Hilton Head Christian Academy for eleven years and has been the director of the theater program since 2014. Locally, Michelle works with Main Stage Community Theatre and serves on the board of May River Theatre and the Island School Council for the Arts.  Favorite directorial credits include: HHCA's White Christmas (2019), HHCA's The Little Mermaid (2019), MSYT's Grease (2018), HHCA's The Sound of Music (2018 voted Broadway World South Carolina’s Best Non-Professional Musical), and MRT's Little Women the Musical (2017). While Michelle loves producing shows, her favorite component of the process is helping kids and teens discover their God-given talents and love for theater.
