Class of 1997
Background:
I was born in Savannah GA and moved to HHI when I was 5. I attended HHCA K-12. I met my wife Amanda at Carson-Newman College, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. I graduated CNC in May 2001 and got married on June 9 2001. I have two kids, Charity (16) and James (14). I am a Wendy’s franchisee and operate eight of them and we live in Bluffton, SC.
What was your most memorable experience at HHCA?
I have so many memorable experiences! I played soccer, basketball, baseball and track, winning the State championship in soccer in 94, basketball in 96 and baseball in 97. We also won the state track meet. The relationships I made with students and teachers truly do last a lifetime. It has been 24 years since I graduated from HHCA and I still keep in touch with many of them.
What is one piece of advice that you would give to current HHCA students?
My advice to current students is to remember to always give the glory to God for everything.
How did your time at HHCA influence your career path?
I attended a Christian college, and having attended HHCA for 13 years I definitely had an advantage in both my old testament and new testament classes! I have also spent many years serving local churches. I was a deacon at First Baptist Bluffton/Cornerstone Church for 12 years and then I was hired as their part-time youth pastor (my full-time job remained at Wendy’s). After serving as their youth pastor for 6 years I moved on to Maye River Baptist Church where I served as their youth pastor for 3 years.
The relationships I made with students and teachers truly do last a lifetime. It has been 24 years since I graduated from HHCA and I still keep in touch with many of them.
