Devin McGuinness

Class of 2010

Background:

Following HHCA, I attended The University of South Carolina for undergrad and then The University of Notre Dame for Law School. After graduating law school, I moved to Atlanta, GA to work for the global law firm Eversheds Sutherland, where I specialized in mergers and acquisitions. Last year, I took a new job to work as in-house corporate counsel for The Coca-Cola Company.

What was my most memorable HHCA experience?

Winning the state championship in baseball my senior year. I am still friends with most of my teammates and it's an experience that I'm sure none of us will ever forget. I know Coach Danny Morgan is still involved with the program and the school is lucky to have him around. It is also great to hear that JW Wilkerson is now leading the baseball program. He is a good friend. I know that the students will grow both athletically and spiritually under his guidance. I am looking forward to watching them lead the team to our next baseball state championship!

What advice would you give to current students?

Slow down and really enjoy your time at HHCA while you are still there. If your experience is anything like mine, you are creating friendships now that will last for the rest of your lives. It may seem weird to think about now, but in 15 years you will still be having conversations with your friends that start with "remember that one time in high school..." Try to create memories that will be worth remembering in 15 years. Also, hug mom and dad as much as you can. They may seem overbearing and embarrassing now, but as you get older, you will miss the days when they were doing your laundry and making you dinner.

If your experience is anything like mine, you are creating friendships now that will last for the rest of your lives.
