Background:

I had the gift of attending HHCA starting my 8th grade year. I was a part of the graduating class of 2018 and then decided to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education at the University of South Carolina. I am now back to the place I call home serving as a Lower School Mentor at HHCA and married to my high school sweetheart, Alex Likins. 

What is one word to describe HHCA's impact on your life?

Immeasurable - I truly cannot describe the impact HHCA has on my life. Looking back at my time there, I cannot help but be in awe of how God used HHCA and the teachers in it to shape who I am and where I am today. When I began my senior year, I had no idea what I wanted to do or where God wanted me to go, I just knew I wanted to impact others the same way my mentors had impacted me. The more I thought about this the more I felt God pulling at my heart to be one of those mentors and to be a part of this special place. I then was able to receive my Early Childhood Education Degree and return to HHCA to hopefully be a part of many more impactful moments that will shape the lives of those around me for the glory of God.  

What advice would you give to current students? 

As you grow up you naturally feel the urge to wish for the next best thing. Looking forward to the next school year when you're older, your first car, prom, your senior year parking spot, graduation, college, and everything that comes next. Although this idea of looking forward to the next thing is something we all do, and it quite frankly never ends, I want to encourage you to make the most of your time at HHCA. Whether you realize it or not, the days you spend inside that building will be some of the best days of your life. Your time at HHCA will truly be what you make it, so meet new people, try new things, take risks, and most importantly soak it all in.
