Tate Lucci

Class of 2017

Background:

I graduated in 2017 and I currently work at HHCA as a Bible Teacher, as well as a Student Pastor at Central Church. Outside of my careers,  I practice martial arts throughout the week; Judo being what I am currently learning.

What was your most memorable HHCA experience?

Every time look back at HHCA, I cannot help but think about Spirit Week. Coming from a public school to HHCA was a major shift in both education and atmosphere. Spirit Week was one of those changes that I could not get enough of. The competition, the sports, the activities, the engagement, and more. Everyone goes all out and that made it so much fun and exciting to look forward to every year.

How did HHCA shape you spiritually?

HHCA helped awaken my faith. I grew up in a Christian home, but HHCA helped me go deeper into the Bible. But it is not just the Bible classes that I could rely on for spiritual growth, but other teachers who were devoted to Christ. It made me feel safe and secure that I could go to anyone for guidance and not be judged. HHCA does a great job preparing the youth for adulthood.

How did your time at HHCA influence your career path or life?

Funny enough, I was set on a completely different career then where I am now. I was studying to be a doctor, then FBI, and now ministry. And yet, God brought me back to where it all started for me. There was a seed planted in my life here at HHCA, it was watered, taken care of, and grown. If it wasn't for my time spent at HHCA as a student, my faith certainly would not be where it is now, and I would not be a Bible teacher at my Alma Mater.

What advice would you give to current students?

I have literally been in your shoes. I, myself, was a student here at HHCA. I got bored, annoyed, tired, exhausted, etc. But as an adult, I often look back thinking it was not as bad as I thought it was. I look back wishing I tried better in my math classes. I wish I had done other sports and clubs. I look back trying to remember answers people asked me about the Bible, because I went to a Christian school. You are only a teenager for so long. Enjoy it.

"Soak in what is important. Try new things. And most importantly, do not lose yourself along the way, but be a better version of who you were yesterday. "
