HHCA's 8th-grade students recently had an unforgettable experience at FlightSafety International (FSI) in Savannah, a world-class aviation training facility. FSI specializes in immersive simulation technology and provides pilots, flight attendants, and maintenance crews with the highest level of hands-on training.
HHCA parents Danny and Alexa DiGiannantonio made this incredible opportunity possible. The DiGiannantonios, both pilots and managers at FlightSafety, extended the invitation for Mrs. Judd's 8th-grade science classes to visit.
During the tour, students had the rare opportunity to step into the cockpit of the multimillion-dollar flight simulators used to train Gulfstream pilots worldwide. These simulators replicate a Gulfstream jet's exact look and feel, giving students a firsthand glimpse into the world of professional aviation.
Beyond the simulators, students explored the cabin crew training facility, where flight attendants prepare for real-life emergency scenarios. They observed life raft and emergency slide demonstrations and toured a training area for handling in-flight fire emergencies, including simulations of lithium battery fires.
It was a privilege to visit this world-class facility! Learning from industry leaders—and having this one-of-a-kind hands-on learning opportunity opened doors to new career possibilities for HHCA students. It also gave them a deeper appreciation for the technology and expertise behind aviation safety.
