HHCA Names Director of Academics and Technology

Director of Academics and Technology Appointed at HHCA

In a move aimed to further enhance Hilton Head Christian Academy’s (HHCA) distinct inquiry-based learning model, HHCA has announced the appointment of Mrs. Tabatha DeWitt, M.Ed., as the Director of Academics and Technology.

With over 15 years of experience in education, mostly in project and inquiry based learning, along with strong commitment to Christian values, Tabatha brings a wealth of expertise to this pivotal role. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and earned a Masters of Education Teaching and Curriculum from the University of South Carolina.

Tabatha has served HHCA as the Director of Technology since August of 2020, and has led initiatives that integrate and manage the use of technology in learning. The majority of her experience in education prior to her arrival at HHCA, however, is centered around the transition to and implementation of project-based learning.

She began in the classroom as a business teacher using the project-based learning model before becoming a coach to teachers who were also making the educational transition, and then served as an administrator who helped to facilitate the implementation of a complete project-based learning school. During this process she collaborated with teachers to create authentic learning experiences blended with high educational standards, became a teaching coach, led professional learning communities, and presented and trained others at a national demonstration school.

HHCA has been committed to implementing a uniquely Christian inquiry-based learning model for several years, having worked with leading institutions and consultants in the process.  This appointment underscores our dedication to fostering holistic development among students while providing excellent professional development and support for our mentors.

I am honored to lead at HHCA in this way and excited about what is on the horizon for our school. The faculty and staff here are truly dedicated and have done an amazing job so far in their transition towards inquiry-based learning. I am eager to collaborate with and support them to ensure our students receive an excellent education that is grounded in Christian principles and prepares them for their next chapter.
