🐝 Inquiry in Action | The Buzz About Bees

HHCA Kindergarteners are discovering how God designed honeybees with purpose—and how these tiny pollinators play a big role in His creation.

Kindergarteners at Hilton Head Christian Academy have been busy buzzing with curiosity during their latest inquiry-based project: learning all about honeybees and pollination! Over six weeks, students are exploring the life cycle of the honeybee, how each bee has a unique role within the hive, and how their work keeps the ecosystem thriving.

Through hands-on activities, students are learning how God perfectly designed honeybees to find and gather pollen. Using fuzzy “bee” models and bright paper flowers, they experimented with how bees collect and spread pollen while visiting flowers- a playful, tangible way to see pollination in action.

From building hive models to acting out the jobs of worker bees, students are connecting scientific observation with Biblical wonder.

It’s amazing to see how something so small can have such a big impact. Honeybees remind us that God’s design is intentional and full of purpose.

- Amy Cunningham, HHCA Kindergarten Mentor

The project will conclude with a special visit from local beekeeper Tabatha DeWitt, who will share what it’s like to care for bees up close and explain how humans can help protect God’s pollinators.
