A team of 11 Upper School students represented HHCA at the 54th annual High School Model United Nations (Model UN) Conference held at Georgia Southern University, January 30-February 1, 2025. HHCA's Model UN team joined over 400 other students from 20 high schools in this 3-day event designed to simulate the activities of the United Nations and give students an opportunity to explore international relations and global politics.
Students take on the role of delegate for their chosen country and spend 3 days representing their country's interests - forming delegations, engaging in policy debates, and presenting resolutions on important and timely issues, such as nuclear weapons, human trafficking, climate change, and much more. Students conduct research, give speeches, and collaborate with delegates from other countries.
HHCA students participating in the conference included William Adams, Bailey Block, Ezra Craddock, Fischer Hubbard, Austin Marshall, Cade McKay, Elianna Muthersbaugh, Kyle Pepper, Ellie Rein, Zoe Solomon, and Kendrick Vo. The club is led by Upper School mentor Matt Lingafelt.
Bailey Block and Ellie Rein, representing Australia, received Honorable Mention in the General Assembly for developing a crisis response strategy that persuaded neighboring countries to respond in a particular way to a specific crisis.
Congratulations to our Eagle ambassadors for representing their countries, and HHCA, at Model UN 2025.
