Next-Level Eagles: Senior Athletes Sign to Play Collegiate Sports

With a thriving athletics program that has seen 23 student-athletes commit to compete at the collegiate level over the past three years, HHCA continues to cement its reputation as a leader in both athletic and academic excellence. On Thursday, May 1, the HHCA community gathered to celebrate the latest additions to that legacy: Ian Kelly and Hayden Brooks, two seniors who signed to continue their athletic careers at the next level.

The Signing Day celebration took place in front of teammates, coaches, faculty, friends, family, and the media.

Ian Kelly, who made a remarkable transition from soccer to football as a junior, signed to play football at UNC-Charlotte. In just two seasons on the gridiron, Ian has emerged as one of South Carolina’s top high school kickers—ranked among the Top 200 kickers nationally in total points scored, holding the #1 ranking in SCISA 3A for both points scored and field goals made. Known for his powerful leg and precision, Ian has notched 49 touchbacks, a long kickoff of 74 yards, and 22 punts, six of which landed inside the 20-yard line. His impact is just as significant on the soccer field, where he continues to lead the HHCA varsity team into the SCISA Boys’ Soccer State Playoffs this week.

Hayden Brooks, a senior pitcher, has been the cornerstone of HHCA Varsity Bbaseball and a driving force behind their push for back-to-back state championships. Hayden will take his talents to Montreat College next fall, after closing out a stellar season with a 7–2 record, 64 strikeouts, and an impressive 1.83 ERA over 53 innings pitched. With opponents hitting just .208 against him, Hayden has consistently delivered in high-pressure moments and earned SCISA All-State and All-Region honors for his performance on the mound.

These student-athletes are perfect examples of what happens when talent meets dedication. Their work ethic, leadership, and character have made a lasting impact on our athletic program, and we’re thrilled to celebrate this exciting milestone with them.

JW Wilkerson, HHCA Athletic Director

HHCA fields more than 30 athletic teams across 18 varsity sports and has earned over 60 state championship titles. Since 2015, HHCA has earned 15 SCISA State Championships.

Congratulations to Ian and Hayden —your HHCA family is cheering you on every step of the way!
