While we have been looking ahead and planning for 2023 for many months now, we believe there is value in reflection. As 2022 comes to a close, we look back on our first semester with gratitude and thank God for His continued guidance and provision.
Here's are just a few first semester highlights:
ACADEMICS

4 on-site instructional coaches were added to provide project planning and implementation support for our mentors.

Our Guidance Team assisted the Class of 2023 with 190+ college applications, with 50+ college acceptances so far.

Over 20 colleges have visited our campus this fall, and we took our students to visit colleges in Charleston. Another bus tour is on the calendar next semester.
-
44 juniors and seniors are taking dual enrollment courses this fall through USCB, TCL and Grand Canyon University.
ADMISSIONS
-
We welcomed 170 new students into the HHCA community.
-
So far this year, our Admissions Team has processed nearly 150 inquiries and almost 100 new student applications.
ATHLETICS
-
We had another successful fall sports season, fielding 12 athletic teams.
-
Multiple student athletes were recognized at the state and regional levels.

Cross Country: Noah Kaufman finished 1st overall for the boys; Anna Mossing finished 1st overall for the girls; Girls finished 1st overall at the Cross-Country Regional Meet.

Jack Ussery finished 1st place in two events at the South Carolina Senior Long Course State Championship Meet. He broke a state record and qualified for Junior Nationals.

Tri-sport athlete Abby Peduzzi signed to play collegiate volleyball at UNC-Pembroke. She has earned 3 State Championship rings in just 3 years. Abby celebrated her career 1000th kill on the volleyball court.

9 Varsity Eagle football players received All State honors.

2 coaches named region Coach-of-the-Year.
FINE ARTS

Just this fall, the Theater Department produced three shows, including Elf Jr which featured more than 80 Lower School and Middle School students, and "Anybody for Tea", an Upper School production that won 1st Place at State during SCISA's one-act competition. The entire female cast of "Anybody for Tea" was awarded Best Actress as a group.

Our Music Department launched Lessons Academy, enrolling nearly 40 students in private, after-school music lessons.

Our Visual Arts Department displayed over 1000+ original works in HHCA’s first visual Fall Art Show, “Made to Create”, with over 200+ guests in attendance.

Record enrollment in fine arts camps this past summer!
SPIRITUAL LIFE

Our Spiritual Life team partnered with local churches and organizations to bring the first annual Rooted Conference to the community, featuring keynote speaker and Gen Z expert Dr. Tim Elmore.

We introduced our 2nd annual Life+ Parent Ministry series.

Our faculty & staff began meeting weekly in small "Life" groups and several on-campus Bible studies are ongoing.

We've seen several students give their life to Christ.

Annual Fall Retreats returned for MS and US, with a new venue for the MS retreat.
SECURITY

For the 4th year in a row, HHCA partnered with the SASS GO organization to provide safety training to more than 100 HHCA girls in 1st-12th grade. Since partnering with SASS GO, more than 250 HHCA girls have been trained.
STUDENT LIFE/OTHER

Our student leadership group "The Cage" continues to grow and build a culture of school spirit and unity.

The HHCA Chess Club was started and placed 3rd in the SCISA State Chess Tournament.

One of our Lower School VEX IQ Robotics teams was awarded first place in a regional competition, earning the opportunity to compete in the State Tournament in February.

HHCA student journalists formed the first fully-led student newspaper club in 20 years. They are publishing "The Crest" every month.

The Youth In Government program was launched in August and student delegates had great success at the state conference in November, passing multiple legislations.
GIVING

HHCA has received 69 individual donations since the beginning of the school year.

Nearly 300 gathered for another successful Magical Night on the May event, which raised money to support the Dream Big Fund.
