HHCA Celebrates Completion of New Upper School Building

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, HHCA marked a historic milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its brand-new Upper School Building. The event, held in partnership with the Hilton Head Island-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, celebrated the early completion of this state-of-the-art facility—a testament to the unwavering support of the HHCA community and the generosity of over 240 dedicated donors.

This $7.8 million expansion project is funded by private donations through HHCA's Created to Soar capital campaign. Launched publicly just one year ago, the campaign has been a resounding success, with 95% of the fundraising goal met, leaving $380,000 to reach its ambitious goal.

With construction complete ahead of schedule and our fundraising goal within reach, we are excited to open this incredible space now rather than waiting until next year. Our students are eager to learn in these new spaces, which were designed for collaboration, innovation, and academic excellence.

- Doug Langhals, HHCA Head of School

Recognizing the growing demand for quality Christian education in the Lowcountry, HHCA made the strategic decision to open the new Upper School Building ahead of schedule. This milestone reflects not only the generosity of the HHCA community but also the school’s deep commitment to fostering a Christ-centered learning environment that inspires students to thrive.

The new 16,500-square-foot Upper School Building is more than just an expansion—it’s a launchpad for student success.

Key features of the new facility include:

  • Flexible learning spaces that foster collaboration

  • A dynamic Student Commons area with an outdoor learning porch and grand staircase overlooking the heart of HHCA’s campus

  • A second campus café with a courtyard designed to build community

  • An indoor/outdoor visual arts studio equipped to inspire creativity

  • A state-of-the-art science lab for hands-on discovery and innovation

Guests at the ribbon-cutting included campaign donors and school leadership, along with representatives from Choate Construction Company (General Contractor) and Court Atkins Group Commercial (Project Architect) who shared their excitement about the project’s successful completion. Student Council President Luke Williams (Class of 2026) and Bill Miles, President & CEO of the HHI-Bluffton Chamber of Commerce, also shared remarks, noting how the new building will serve students for generations to come.

As HHCA celebrates this momentous occasion, the school remains committed to crossing the finish line of its Created to Soar captial campaign. With just $380,000 left to raise, the community has a unique opportunity to invest in the future of Christian education.

"We are so grateful for the incredible generosity of our donors and look forward to completing this campaign with the same faith and momentum that has brought us to this point,” Langhals shared. "Our vision at Hilton Head Christian Academy is 'To Know Christ and Make Him Known' and while a building isn’t required to fulfill that vision, this new space will enhance the experience for our students and expand our ability to welcome new families into our community. We can’t wait to see the impact that happens within these walls."
