At Hilton Head Christian Academy, knowing students well means paying attention to the support that helps them grow academically, socially, and emotionally. For the 2026-2027 school year, HHCA welcomed Courtney Adams as Lower School Guidance Counselor and Phoebe Pearson as Lower School Interventionist, two members of the HHCA team whose roles are centered within Lower School and closely connected to students and their classroom mentors.

A Dedicated Guidance Presence in Lower School

As Lower School Guidance Counselor, Courtney Adams works directly with Lower School students, mentors, and families while collaborating with HHCA's broader Guidance Team. With her office located within Lower School, she provides a consistent, accessible presence within the division.

Adams is a Licensed Master Social Worker and earned both her Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Auburn University.

Her recent school-based experience includes serving as a school social worker at Hilton Head Early Childhood Center, where she partnered with staff and parents to support the well-being and educational success of PreK-K students. Her background also includes school counseling and clinical experience supporting children and families, with work addressing student well-being, family communication, social skills, and other needs that can affect a child's experience at school.

Targeted Academic Support Alongside Classroom Mentors

As Lower School Interventionist, Phoebe Pearson works alongside classroom mentors to provide intentional, targeted academic support to students when appropriate. Her role keeps intervention support connected to the classroom and to the mentors who know students and their day-to-day learning needs.

Pearson earned a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Georgia College and State University. Her background includes early childhood special education experience in Bluffton as well as several years of preschool and elementary special education teaching in Georgia and Montana.

Throughout those roles, Pearson has experience adapting instruction to individual student needs, working closely with families and other professionals, and supporting children throughout the important early years of learning and development.

Supporting Students as Part of a Connected Team

Their roles reflect an important part of HHCA's approach to Lower School: knowing students well enough to recognize when support may be helpful, challenging them appropriately, and surrounding them with caring adults who can help them grow.

Adams and Pearson work alongside classroom mentors and other members of HHCA's student support team, bringing focused expertise while keeping support connected to the relationships students experience each day.

Within HHCA's Christ-centered community, that work is part of the school's broader commitment to ensuring that every student is known, challenged, and loved.
