HHCA Students Explore Italy on 10-Day Adventure

An Italy Adventure

A small group of HHCA students and a handful of chaperones packed their bags at the beginning of June and traveled together to Italy for a 10-day educational tour. For many, it was the trip of a lifetime.

Traveling together to Italy allowed each student to grow as a global citizen, to grow in their walk with Christ, and to create a bond of friendship with their brothers and sisters in Christ -- all while eating delicious food and enjoying great company!

- HHCA Humanities Mentor and Tour Leader Tori Bolds

When asked to share a few trip highlights, Ms. Bolds said, "There were so many! Among my favorite places were Assisi, a quiet, medieval, and contemplative place where we could admire the beauty of God's creation, and Florence, where the history of the renaissance was written in every building and street corner. Venice was also a favorite because I love a city on the water! The girls enjoyed extra time together in Venice, which was also special. In addition to seeing so many remarkable historical sites, one of the best things about the trip was seeing students come together, demonstrating kindness and respect for one another, along with excitement for a new adventure. We had absolutely no problems! The students were complimented everywhere we went, and they were always so joyful - even when I wasn't! It was an incredible adventure."

HHCA Humanities mentor Drew Dale also traveled with the group as a chaperone. Mr. Dale shared, "As an AP European History mentor and a mentor in general, I always appreciate the opportunity to explore Europe alongside our high school students. This trip provides a fantastic opportunity for them to see in person what they have been learning about for the past few years in school. As a supporter of hands-on learning, and with some historical landmarks disappearing, I have even more reasons to participate in these trips. The Europe trip is more than a historical adventure - it is a life-changing opportunity for students to experience new environments - from sights and sounds to tastes. I hope it fuels their desire to explore and experience the world around them throughout the rest of their lives."

During their 10-day tour, the group visited Venice, Florence, Assisi, Rome, Capri, Naples, Milan, and Sorrento.

Looking ahead, Ms. Bolds is already planning a Summer 2025 European expedition to England and France. "I'm excited about the chance to delve into the rich culture and history of these two countries. We'll be partnering with a new tour company, and some of the adventures on our itinerary include bike tours, a French cooking class, and a visit to the American cemetery at Normandy."

An interest meeting for the Summer 2025 trip will be held in late August.
