Middle & Upper School Dress Code

As representatives of our school, students are expected to reflect HHCA values in all that they do--including how they dress--while on campus and while attending off-campus school events. The policies below give specific direction in how students are to dress. Uniforms are required every day unless they are specifically exempted by the school administration.

General Requirements

ALL CLOTHING MUST:

be modest and sized appropriately.
be at least fingertip length when arms are down by the side.
have a neatly tailored fit (no sagging, no items that are tight, no low riding bottoms).
not be ripped or torn.

TOPS

All tops must meet the fit requirements outlined above.

Any HHCA-branded t-shirt, hoodie, or outerwear (sweatshirts, light jackets) that meets the fit requirements above is approved.
T-shirts worn under outerwear must be HHCA-branded if outerwear is removed during the day.
Winter coats can be any solid color but must be removed while inside during the school day.
Students must have lanyards with their HHCA-issued key card visible at all times during the school day.

BOTTOMS

All bottoms must meet the fit and length requirements outlined above.

Pants must be solid navy, khaki, or black.
Shorts must be solid navy or khaki.
The only skort approved for girls is the one available at this link. It must be purchased from this vendor and may not be hemmed.
The only jogger-style bottoms approved (for boys and girls) are available at hhca.org/shop (open at various times throughout the year) or at this link anytime. These must be the exact item(s) offered at the links provided.
Athletic bottoms are not appropriate for the classroom. Athletic shorts, skorts and pants are not approved for dress code, with the exception of the HHCA-branded jogger-style bottoms available through the links above.
Blue jeans are only permitted on Fridays.

Athletic wear is not appropriate for the classroom. The only athletic-style bottoms approved for dress code are available through the HHCA's official online store (available at e or those available here.

Approved Vendors

HHCA SHOP

All tops and bottoms offered in each HHCA SHOP, our official spirit store, are approved for MS/US dress code. This online store is open at various times throughout the year at hhca.org/shop, with orders distributed on campus after each store closes.

Uniform Work and Sport

The skorts and joggers offered at this link are approved for MS/US dress code.

Approved Embroidery Vendors

The vendors below have been approved to embroider certain HHCA logos when HHCA brand guidelines are followed. As a reminder, the only skorts and joggers approved for MS/US dress code are offered at the links above.

Stitch Workstyles (no storefront)

Returns from may not be available. Note that all items must adhere to dress code requirements outlined above.

Compliance

Mentors will perform a daily dress code check of students, recording infractions as necessary when students are out of dress code.
Parents may be asked to bring compliant items when students are not dressed properly.
Upper School students may be sent home to change in order to meet dress code requirements.
Administration reserves the right to amend the dress code or prohibit any clothing that does not conform to the general intent of providing a uniform and modest appearance, consistent with daily school activities.

Footwear

Grooming & Hair Cuts

Boys hair is to be neatly groomed. The back should not be longer than the top of the collar on a collard shirt, above the top of the ear lobe, and above the eyebrows.
Extreme hair colors and styles are not allowed. NOTE: Administration has the authority to determine what styles are acceptable.
Boys are to be clean-shaven at all times. NOTE: Juniors and Seniors may have facial hair if kept neat and clean.
Boys are not to wear earrings to school.
Boys and girls may wear a nose stud (not loop).
Jewelry that is considered excessive or distracts from the desired appearance of the dress code should not be worn.

P.E. & Strength/Fitness Class

Students taking P.E. and strength/fitness classes must change into clothing that remains dress-code compliant in color and fit.
Tops can be a t-shirt in any color and must be modest in fit and sized appropriately per fit requirements stated above. HHCA branding on t-shirts is preferred. Tops with branding for other schools or sports teams are not permitted.
Bottoms must be navy, black or khaki athletic shorts and meet fit requirements stated above. They must be modest in fit and sized appropriately, not be ripped or torn, and at least fingertip length when arms are down by the side. HHCA branding on bottoms is not required. Bottoms with branding for other schools or sports teams are not permitted.
Tennis shoes must be worn.

Extracurricular Activities & Events

Students visiting campus outside of school hours are required to follow these expectations:

Dress modestly and appropriately for the activity they are attending
Do not wear shirts with offensive words or graphics or advertisements that are in conflict with the values of HHCA
Boys are never to be shirtless
Coaches will communicate guidelines for athletic wear for sports

Students attending special events, awards ceremonies, public meetings, etc., should dress as follows:

Boys should wear dress pants, collared shirts, and shoes.
Girls should wear dress pants or modest-length skirts. No short or tight-fitting skirts or tops are to be worn.
Both boys and girls should wear appropriate dress shoes.

Students participating in fine arts performances or productions must have appropriate performance attire which will be stipulated by the fine arts faculty.
