Pamela Joy O'Grady (grandparent)

I am so grateful for those that came before me and were brave enough to heed God's call on their life.

History

Hilton Head Christian Academy was founded in 1979 by George and Mary Winn Lent. They had a passion for Christian education and with the help of several other families, the school opened at Grace Church on Matthews Drive.

In 1981, a board of directors was formed and a few years later, HHCA found its home on Arrow Road. Although our first graduating class in 1984 only had one graduate, by 1987 our kindergarten had 31 students.

Around that time, Robert Graves (current grandparent at HHCA) experienced something that would change HHCA history. “As I was driving over the bridge to Hilton Head, it was as if the Lord said, Robert, Hilton Head has been so good to you. What are you going to do for Hilton Head?”

He shared this with his friend, Konrad Marcus and Kon said “You’re going to help me build a school for HHCA!” So with the help of John Reed (current grandparent at HHCA) and many other families at the school, a dream was born.

In 1989, just one short decade after the school was founded, our doors opened at 55 Gardner Drive with more than a 170 students. Today we have more than 380 students as we continue our vision To Know Christ and Make Him Known!
